However, ebatte's batteries utilize a water-soluble polyacrylic acid binding agent, making them free from PFAS.

2. What is Battery Passport?

Battery Passport refers to a digital or physical record that contains crucial information about a battery throughout its lifecycle.

This information typically includes details such as the battery's origin, composition, manufacturing date, usage history, and recycling instructions.

The purpose of a Battery Passport is to improve transparency, traceability, and sustainability in battery management. It helps stakeholders, including manufacturers, users, and recyclers, to track and manage batteries more efficiently, ensuring proper handling, disposal, and recycling practices while also facilitating compliance with regulations and standards.

3. Are EBATTE LiFePO4 Lithium batteries safe?

LiFePO4 is an inherently safe chemistry and the most stable lithium-type battery on the market. EBATTE LFP cells are UL certified for the highest safety and sustainability standards.

All EBATTE LiFePO4 batteries come with an internal Battery Management System, which protects against under-voltage during discharge, over-voltage during charge, over-current during discharge, over-temperature during charge and discharge, and short-circuit protection – protects battery cells from damage.

Additionally, EBATTE LiFePO4 Lithium batteries have been tested to be free from the risk of fire, and electric shock in harsh environments.

4. What is the advantage of pouch cell compared with prismatic cells?

A pouch cell utilizes aluminum-plastic film for cell packaging, contrasting with the prevailing use of prismatic (metal-shell) cells in the majority of lithium-ion batteries on the market. Pouch cells, lighter in weight than prismatic cells of similar capacity, demonstrate excellent cycling performance.

Due to their chemistry, lithium batteries charge much faster than lead-acid, typically reaching full charge after a round in just a few hours.

d. Longevity

Lead-acid golf cart batteries usually last between three and five years, with a 12-to-18-month warranty. In contrast, lithium batteries are rated to last eight to ten years or more. The EBATTE Universal lithium batteries, for instance, are rated for over 5,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge.

e. Direct Replacement, No Modifications Required

A key consideration, particularly for DIY golf cart owners, is the ease of converting from wet lead-acid to lithium batteries. When planning to connect several batteries in parallel, ensure that all cable lengths are consistent, maintaining uniformity from the positive end to the negative end. Use appropriately sized battery cables (available separately) capable of handling the anticipated load. Ensure secure connections by using the correct number of washers to maximize thread engagement between the terminal, cable lugs, and busbars, avoiding over-tightening the terminal bolt. It's advisable to employ flexible busbars or dedicated cables for interconnecting batteries.

Important: Avoid connecting batteries in series and refrain from connecting batteries with different chemistries.

9. What actions should I take upon receiving the battery?

Upon receiving the battery, it's important to note that it might arrive with a low State of Charge (SOC) because of transportation and storage. To ensure it operates optimally, it's advised to promptly charge the battery to prevent over-discharge.

If you intend to store the battery for a prolonged period without using it, it's recommended to charge it to a SOC between 30% and 50%, and conduct maintenance every three months. Following these guidelines will help preserve its functionality and performance in the long run.

10. What are the working conditions of the battery's heating function?

The heating function initiates automatically when both the battery and the ambient temperature drop below 32°F (0°C). It ceases automatically when the battery temperature rises above 41°F (5°C).

11. Can I use my existing lead-acid charger to charge lithium batteries?

We advise customers to utilize a charger specifically designed with a Lithium charge profile tailored for LiFePO4 batteries.

However, some customers may wish to continue using their existing Lead-Acid charger if feasible. While many current lead-acid chargers can still charge our Lithium battery, it's generally not recommended to do so. The concern is that lead-acid chargers may trigger fault codes at some point, despite the Lithium battery likely being fully recharged. The issue arises because the conditions during fault codes can potentially cause problems or damage to other system electronics and even the charger itself.

Therefore, we strongly urge the use of a Lithium battery charger.

12. What is the self-discharge rate of this battery?
